Details

A fast growing owner managed private equity firm is pleased to be searching for a new head of private equity accounting for what promises to be an incredibly commercial opportunity. The company was founded 10 years ago and is arguably one of the greatest British PE stories over the last decade with recent successes including expansion into Europe and Asia. Their London office is c150 people strong and this role offers a welcoming blend of accounting/reporting and commercial and strategic based responsibilities with the chance to work directly with the managing partner and senior leadership team.

Your role will include management and leadership of a fund accounting team of 15 with overall responsibility for the delivery of the accounts and reports, with the focus of your role being to review, troubleshoot and own the relationship with the business. Your team includes a number of managers and qualified accountants who ultimately prepare the accounts freeing you up to concentrate on the more value adding aspects of such a role. The commercial elements of the position will be vast but primarily orientate around supporting front office activities such as origination and business development. As such the ideal candidate needs to be comfortable stepping out of a traditional ‘accountant’ role for at least 50% of their working day; ideal if your longer term aspirations are to move down the FD/CFO route in the future.

I’m looking to speak to a qualified accountant – ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent – who is likely at senior manager or associate director level in a large global accounting firm with direct experience of working with private equity funds. This is a highly specialised role with the need for someone who is both a technical expert as well as a proven business manager with the firm preferring a candidate who is looking for their first move out of audit, assurance, transaction advisory or equivalent. You’ll need to have excellent communication skills and an adaptable and approachable personality with the ability to build relationships with external stakeholders from a wide variety of backgrounds. Longer term this role is likely to grow in seniority offering for a rich and highly rewarding longer term opportunity.
