Our client, is a prestigious investment management private equity firm with over 6 billion in assets under management. They are seeking an Assistant Controller to head up their accounting department and to supervise staff. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for supervising the day to day corporate accounting activities. This includes responsibility for the month end financial close process, review and analysis of results and reviewing/preparing monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statement reporting. The candidate will be responsible for supervising the efforts of other associates while managing their own tasks to completion.

Duties:

Maintain general ledger to include the review and preparation of journal entries in connection with the timely month-end close process in accordance with GAAP.
Responsibility for accurate recording of financial transactions, including reconciliations and supporting schedules for accounts.
Responsibility for review and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and supporting schedules, including financial statements, budget and forecasts.
Responsibility for review and preparation of variance explanations compared to prior year, prior quarter and forecast for management reporting.
Responsibility for managing the fixed asset process, including appropriate capitalization and depreciation of assets in accordance with policy.
Responsibility for the bank reconciliation process and certain Treasury functions
Responsibility for review of regulatory filings and supporting documentation.
Supervise other associates in their routine duties, manage tasks to completion and recommend and drive operational improvements to the team.
Assist with preparation of the annual budget as well as periodic forecasts
Analyze transactions for appropriate accounting under GAAP including revenue recognition and consolidation.

General Education, Skills or Experience Requirements:

BA/BS in Accounting with outstanding academic credentials with a minimum 3.5 GPA; CPA preferred.
Minimum 7 years of relevant employment experience preferably in a corporate accounting role at a financial or professional services organization with continuous employment since college.
Public accounting experience is preferred, but not required.
Strong GAAP knowledge with proven experience with preparation of financial statements and disclosures, footnotes and supporting documentation.
