The $16 Billion Merger Case Study

Did you know that being comfortable building and analyzing financial models is a competitive advantage in the interview process?

Not only is financial modeling building frequently a piece of a job description but it is also a screening point for employers as well. In other words, if you don’t know how to build models, you could be giving employers a reason to throw your resume out.

To help you develop outstanding model analysis skills, we have teamed-up with the creator of “Breaking Into Wall Street” (BIWS) to offer a no charge training session on merger models.

What is covered in this session?

The Case Study of the $16 Billion Acquisition of Goodrich

In this case study, you’ll analyze United Technologies’ $16 billion acquisition of Goodrich Corporation, one of the largest aerospace & defense M&A deals in recent years.

The deal represented a move by United Technologies, a diversified business conglomerate, to get back into the commercial aircraft market and begin building market share there once again.

The transaction also represented something else: the rare M&A deal that appears to have actually worked out well for both parties, with United exceeding analyst EPS expectations in subsequent quarters and overall investor sentiment turning more positive on company.

We’ll set up the basic model to analyze the deal, and we’ll look at why it worked out well for both sides and whether or not we could have predicted the combined company exceeding EPS guidance in the quarters after it closed.
